Annabelle Chauncy – Founder of School for Life Foundation, an organisation that sets up schools in Uganda.

The beautiful Annabelle Chauncy is our woman of the month! Here’s why…

At the ripe age of 21 she founded School for Life, a non-for-profit organization focused on making a difference in communities through delivering high quality education to adults and children in rural Uganda. She was even named NSW Young Woman of the Year 2015.

Annabelle came up with the idea in 2007 whilst traveling through Africa. She discovered children were being taught from the floor of a mud hut in schools, without pens, pencils, or books.

All they had was a scratched out blackboard. She says among so many challenges, the children were still so passionate for learning and that really stuck with her.

This left her feeling so inspired she launched the School for Life Foundation with fellow traveller Dave Everett. They decided to start by building a primary school in Uganda, which has one of the youngest populations in the world.

Now, almost ten years on, School for Life successfully employs 120 people in Australia and Uganda with two fully operational schools educating over 560 Ugandan children and adults!

Annabelle truly is an inspiration to young women everywhere. Although she acknowledges being recognized is humbling, she is solely driven by educating kids and making a difference to those who need it the most.

She says that pursuing her ambition is the most rewarding and worthwhile thing she has ever done. Her advice to anyone wanting to follow her path is to just get out there and do it!
