Denim is a perennial favourite of many women and a vital category in fashion and design. Wearing denim well involves choosing the right jeans and maintaining them properly.
According to Jeff Rudes of J Brand, a classic, high-rise legging cut is one of the most popular jeans in his line right now. He added that darker colours in varying shades of indigo are popular, and that mid- and high-rises are the best cuts.
Julia Tormey of Nobody Denim believes that buying close to one’s true size, along with buying quality denim, is the best way to retain the shape of the denim. Tormey said that denim should be washed in cold water and left to dry inside out to avoid the colour fading.
Rebekka Bach of G-Star Raw explained that going to a specialised jeans store and getting advice from experienced staff is the best way to buy correctly for body shape.
Heidi Middleton of Sass & Bide agreed, suggesting that shoppers should seek advice from retail staff for guidance on different denims. Denim, said Middleton, can be dressed up for evenings out by mixing layers and experimenting with silhouettes.
